    Hi Sarah,

    I just finished LOUISE’S WAR and loved it. I thought I left a comment earlier, but don’t find it. My parents met in 1939 Washington, lived in a boarding house my aunt owned and ran, and told lots of stories that fit the setting you gave the book. One bit you might be interested in – when the nights were too hot to sleep, people would take blankets to lie on to the parks and sleep there. Hanes Point was popular, as you would get the breeze from the water. Whole families, black and white together, would come and my dad didn’t remember any problems – no drinking, fighting, etc.
